You need to know this about me/us: seldom do we go anywhere for dinner that doesn't serve beer/wine/booze. Yes, gasp. However, for inexplicable reasons, we decided to eat around 4 p.m. yesterday and Lutfi's on Main is where we went. Too early for cocktails, plus we both needed to exercise still. Justifying fried food is really not that difficult.
While I don't like thinking about, or visualizing catfish, I do like eating them. Lutfi's is (obviously by the pictures) an order-at-the-counter place, but they bring you your food. Plastic plates, paper napkins, they cook each meal when you order it. Skip the green beans and get red beans and rice or mac and cheese. The coating on the catfish is light, crispy cornmeal seasoned perfectly. Hardly feels fried. Justifying fried food is really not that difficult -- and delish is always adequate justification.
Next trip, I'm getting a whole fish with their very nice tartar sauce. If I could get a beer, I'd hang there longer. Maybe that's why they don't serve it.
