An Evening at Michael Smith's
First, I made Bill promise he would buy no wine there as we have no room for more wine. He promised.
We tend to eat more often at Extra Virgin so it was lovely to be on the "fancy side." Not that it's fancy or uncomfortable. But it is white tablecloth, as it should be, and usually we're in jeans. Not that there's a dress code. Those were the days . . .
Dinner, all eight courses, was fabulous. The evening was sold out and every one was very happy. Service was cheerful and despite the numbers that had to be served all at the same time, very efficient. If you have not been to this restaurant in a while, you need to go.
All the courses were accompanied by wine, surprise, surprise. Terra Firma was the provider and Marian Fuica oversaw the selection. We were all impressed with how well every single one of the selected wines went with each course. Usually there's one or two you're not crazy about and you wish you had more of the one you just finished. And we were stunned when we saw the price list for the wines -- all VERY reasonable. And if you know me at all, you know that means not over 20 bucks.
Bill's waiting eagerly for his three cases to arrive.
